He takes time out of his schedule to speak with ordinary citizens of Illinois. He also isn’t afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right as an independent candidate, and is not bound by what party officials think might be the right thing to do.

In order to get to know the people of Illinois, Scott Lee Cohen embarked on an extensive listening tour throughout the state. During this tour, he met with numerous people in a variety of both large and small towns.

This is something that most other candidates simply would not do. By meeting with these people, he got a comprehensive view of what life is really like in Illinois.

Also, Cohen was born and raised in Illinois, so he’s familiar with issues that are specific to the Prairie State. An outsider might not know all that much about the industries that are what make this state a truly special state to life.

Also, there is much more to Illinois beyond the major cities or the capital building, which is why Cohen took the time to visit small towns that contribute important things to the state economy such as agriculture and industrial development.
